Foot pain

I was on the treadmill doing my morning cardio which went fine. i left the gym and started the walk to the train to get to work. The walk was very painfull. The pain is on the surface of my left foot and sometimes up the front of my leg? Will be going to the walk in centre later but i thought id ask you guys first?

Any ideas????

Could possibly be the start of 'shin-splints' - Not sure, bump for more advice.

id have said the same thing (shin splints).. have you been stretching properly before and after cardio?

could possibly be caused by footwear aswell, have your trainers got cusioned inner soles in them?.. if not id look into getting some with

Definitley check your footwear. If poss saty away from running/treadmill until the painsubsides - you could try another form of cv e.g. static bike

Thanks guys.

I normally train in Nike Air Max trainers or Addidas Climalite trainers. I wore a new pair of Nike Shox to the gym and im thinking that might be the problem! (They look so good though!)

Im really hoping its nothing serious but i find it strange that it's only in the one foot and leg! I normally get issues with my right foot as i broke it when i was little.

I normally do 30 mins on the X Trainer and 30 on the Treadmill. Weights to finish.
Random settings on both.

Its prob the new trainers. Your others ones are worn in and have probably 'moulded' to your fot slightely. I'd wear your new trainers round the house etc until there worn in. I run in Nike's airs - very comfy, those Nike shox don't look like they have a lot of cushioning under the front of the trainer ??

You might still want to give the treadmilla miss until the pain goes and get the old trainers back on - I'm sure you'll still look the bollox

Thanks.

Im off to the Walk in center to see if they can help.
Cant put the old trainers back on as they are in trainer heaven now. Will walk in the new pair of Air max tonight and just not bother with the shox at the gym!

Say a little prayer for me peeps.

sounds like shinsplints. i suffer too. although i powerlift/bodybuild I also play football twice a week on astroturf so a 17 stone lad running on a hard pitch doesnt do the best for the old shins.

I went to physio who said lay off the footy, try playing once a week and a doc from the foot specialist dept will make some in-soles to help my posture because thats what it boils down to - posture.

It may be that your left leg is compensating for your right foot which you broke when you were younger.

I know when I had a hamstring injury in my left leg I started having some issues with my right knee because my right leg was taking more weight than normal and my posture was off.

Definitely check into the footwear.

How's your mineral intake?

Prayer said.

Hi guys, went to the walk in centre and im really not any wiser. i have a docs appointment on Monday as they were not sure. She said the presure on the surface of my foot could be a trapped nerve or a tendon problem but she just didnt know!

Oh well. Ive been told not to train and to rest until ive at least seen a doctor.

Is it still hurting?

Where you given any therapy exercises to stretch your muscles and tendons with the flexing of your foot and rotation of your foot?

My son had a similar problem and he was given some physcial therapy exercises to reduce the stiffness that was causing the pain.
How's your flexibility? Can you touch the floor with the palms of your hands without it feeling tight behind your knees?

How is your magnesium, potassium, calcium, and Vitamin E intake?

Great post Predator.

Samurai talked about what I mentioned in terms of the muscle sheath not expanding.

Is there anything that can be done to increase expansion of the muscle sheath? I'm not sure. That will be something I'll research.

My son also had stiff tendons and ligaments; therefore, the exercises.
