Thanks peeps. Will read the info tomorrow as im shattered.

Peg, the nurse told me rest it until ive seen the doc on Monday so im not doing anything until then. Im gonna be well rested in the hope that it's not serious. Yes it does still hurt!!!

I'm wondering if you need more fluids. Try coming off the effy and see how you get on. You may be a little dehydrated.

Sweet dreams,
Pred

Went to the docs and im still none the wiser!:rage:

Im to rest it for the next 2 weeks and use a cold pack on the base of my foot. If i go back and its no better then they will send me for a scan!

As im sure you can all imagine im a little stressed as i cant train and havent worked out how to rest it either! I think i might go nuts for the next 2 weeks!

He did say i need to not train in air max though. He recommended going to a proper sports shop and getting some propper advice on trainers as there is no support for the arch of the foot in 'fashion shoes'!

:boohoo:

Your doctor is right about the fashion shoes. They are useless and will often cause you damage.

Nike have a new light weight running shoe, which is apparently designed for athletes. It is only guaranteed to give support for the first 20mins.

This is a great place to try. I don't know if you have one local or not.
They will watch you run and suggest the best trainers for your style of running.

The owner is sick in the head! He once ran a marathon and then turned around and ran back. Just for the hell of it LOL!

Re: Foot pain

It does sound like shin splints.... but its hard to tell over the internet! main causes for it are sh!t shoes, doing 2 much 2 soon, road running and most of all over pronation or fore foot varus - wow technical terms lol.

Short term lay of exercise, Get shoes with good shock absorption, nike shox are utter rubbish btw and i would never suggest someone to buy them, even tho they are touted as anti pronatory shoes, and build up gradually when u start training agin. And if the problem persists go see a state registered podiatrist who specialises in bio-mechanics who can give you some orthotics which should cure the problem.
