| Bassman | Blood test results Iwas a heavy beer drinker for several years and finaly decided to quit. I went to the doctor to get blood and urine work done. Everything was good except for the following glucose 102---range65 - 99 mg/dl calcium serum 10.4---range 8.6 - 10.2 mg/dl total protein 8.2---range6.2 - 8.3 g/dl albumin5.2----range 3.6 - 5.1g/dl creatine, serum 1.20---range.50 - 1.30 mg/dl I dont know what this means? Do I have a kidney or liver problem? Anyway, I quit drinking and am back to weight training 4-5 days a week. I want to take some pro-hormones or designer sterroids or wut ever h-drol is classified as. Just want to make sure I can tollerate it 1st. I already have the h-drol, unopened as yet though. Thanx Steve |

A couple of things first 1. Was this sample fasting for 10 hours? 2. How long have you been alcohol free? 3. It is impossible to come up with a differential diagnosis of liver or kidney disease of what could be the issue just pulling out a few of the slightly out of range analytes. Would you mind posting up all of them. From what you have listed so far, it is impossible to tell if there is any issue with your liver or kidneys as you didn't list anything really related to them (total protein and albumin are related to liver, and calcium somewhat related to kidney via vitamin D, but other than that, not very helpful) Calcium = 2.59 mmol/L What was your corrected calcium, or is this it? Because you albumin is a bit higher, it will have an effect on your calcium. This would not be considered high or dangerously out of range in the UK. Glucose = 5.66 mmol/L Again, this is in the normal range in the UK. Above 6 mmol/L would indicate the need for a glucose tolerance test. No offense, but the lab work in the US is less than desirable. If it is a high tech bit of equipment, no problem, but all of the bread and butter blood work is diabolically out-dated from what I have seen (and my consultant has noticed the same thing). There doesn't seem to be the momentum to improve/keep up to date with blood testing, as there is not the need to save money or avoid unecessary investigations. More investigations/more testing in the US means more money made, so that does seem to be the way it goes. I haven't converted the rest of the analytes, I will do so later after you answer the questions, but it doesn't look like there is an issue with your liver or kidneys from what you have posted. Please list the BUN and all of the LFT if you want a more accurate look at your results. Last edited by Tatyana; 30-08-2008 at 11:05 AM.

That means cutting out all the crappy simple carbs (white flour, white sugar, white pasta), or even going low carb for awhile, and making sure you are not eating any modified/trans fats, and getting good quality fats. This should improve your fasting glucose and your cholesterol and HDL.

| Bassman | Re: Blood test results Thanx Tatyana, thats more info than I can get from even my own doctor (physio). I was worried I had type II diabetes, guess I will soon enough if I dont work out a good diet. Will this condition (insulin insensativity) affect me doing a few cycles of halodrol, or even something stronger later on? |

Being insulin insensitive means that glucose, amino acids and fats are not going to be stored as easily, in particular in muscle tissue. If the transport mechanism for getting the building blocks of muscle into muscle cells is not operating as well as it can, I would think that it may have an effect. I would work on your diet first and foremost, good fats, lower carbs. Steroids may even improve insulin sensitivity.

| Bassman | Re: Blood test results actually I meant was it safe for me to take steroids with this problem? I have noticed I looked alot leaner and muscles look smaller, I just attributed it to a lack of calories and carbs from late-night beer. I think my muscles are degrading, my wrists are screwed up too lately. You are right on the diet though. I am going to make a thread trying to get diet in order soon, as some foods make me feel like my heart is gonna beat outta my chest. Last edited by bassman_sound; 06-09-2008 at 04:58 AM. | Bassman | Re: Blood test results Thanx beans for the support. I never realized my diet was suspect b4. But now I realize it is and I am looking for food I can tolerate and are good enough to make a part of my new daily food plan. I guess I shouldn't say diet as I think the word "diet" is misused as a term for losing weight with a deficit of food. |

The liver is vital for controlling blood sugar levels via the glycogen it stores, putting stress on it could impair its ability and leave you in a worse situation. |
