Anyone else suffer from bursitis in elbow joint?

I had a v bad shock lastnight whilst training arms, was doing lying skullcrushers with 100kg and am 4 weeks out from competition.

Suddenly felt a click in my elbow joint and a pain in the elbow, the pain was the same pain as ive felt previously from tricep extension exercises only more intense...i was v worried it couldve been a tear or strained tricep but couldnt see how this would occur since i was very hydrated, carbed up on my high carb day and also had done 5 warm up sets (specifically to avoid injury).

Went to docs and it sems that i have been developing this for some time now, gh alleviates the problem but im not on gh atm, i have a very sore right elbow joint...anyone else suffer from bursitus in their elbows?

This is all i need 4 weeks out But fortunately i was v relieved this morning that there is no swelling or bruising on tricep or tendon so i am pretty sure it is not related to the tendon or a muscle tear/strain thankfully...the doc says he is confident it is bursitis after examing my elbow. Anyone else get this?

Any other competitors out there who have a simmilar problem? I know its v common with athletes and have heard pros saying simmilar things about tendonitis and bursitis.

I have had it in my shoulder after a rotator cuff tear and it does go away eventually. My physio reckoned it was down to rsi in my shoulder joint?

Mate ive had this friggin thing for years now it seems from doing heavy skullcrushers, wont be doing them again pre contest.

Was sh1tting it because i thought i might have damaged my tricep tendon, was painful in the night and still painful now a bit but no bruisin or swelling, just localised pain in the elbow and running up the forearm slightly...its been bad in the past but not like this. Really annoying.

Re: Anyone else suffer from bursitis in elbow joint?

I get the same problem. My right forearm is deformed and because of this my elbow has suffered. 2 opp's on and if i go too heavy on bench or o.h press i get a sudden sharp pain in the joint. There is no swelling or bruising but it takes months to settle down and the recovery time increases with each 'twinge' :( It may be worth having an MRI to double check! (£200 same day london appointment). Good luck with the comp mate.

Re: Anyone else suffer from bursitis in elbow joint?

you need to pack in skulls all together, i know its your main mass builder but theres aloads of good exercises you never do that could replace it g.g bench, dips, o.h extensions ect. i think if you keep doing them your going to nacker your elbow competely one day or thats it for you and bbing.

Yeah my right elbow hurts when doing skull crushers. Put it down to a combination of skull crushers and close grip bench.

You think it's going to hinder your progress over the next 4 weeks?

I think youre right, fuk skullcrushers, or at least wait till i go on gh, when im on gh it doesnt seem to hurt at all.

Was v worried last workout and my elbow still hurts now, when i felt the click i thought 'oh sh1t'. But the pain is the same as what i normalyl have, just more intense, so i doubt its a tear or anything.

Time to start doing close grip benching as the main mass builder instead then. Plenty of cables aswell. Close grip bench doesnt hurt my elbows anywere near as much which is good.

Re: Anyone else suffer from bursitis in elbow joint?

Since my shows my joints have been very painfull.. Especially when doing bicep curls. I think it's the jump in weight I am lifting. Brit, your arms are so big mate you would pobably get away with not isolating them on the way up to a show.

yes mate ... had it for months pain was so severe even doing the lightest thing would cause pain.. was having Physio every 3 days...in the end i just trained through the pain... using a Vulcan Elbow supprt which seemed to ease the pain whule training...

keep using the ice pack fr 20 min at a time.... got better when i dieted for the shows.as i was really lifting that much.. now back in full swing can feel the pain slightly there.. no doubt it will get worse...

yeah fella, thay have done there job, if you still want to keep them in your workout do them last so 1 you dont have to use so much weight and 2 your joints are going to be nicely warmed up. you could do something like this c.g bench, press downs, then skulls or 1 armed french press. or even take a year off training arms hard so the rest of your body can catch up with your arms and just do push downs at the end of chest and then after you compete again in 2010 you can start working them back into your routine. you'll be a more rounded bber for it plus it will give your elbows a year to recover.

Hey bro, fortunately my elbow doesnt hurt as much today. Still hurts on the point but not as bad.

No bruising or swelling either so i v much doubt it is anything to do with a triceps rupture or partial rupture.

(Sometimes i cant take the docs word as gospel)

Looks like its the usual cable work then for me until the show mate. I'll warm up and do heavy push downs etc on the lat stack. Will know if my tricep is fukd in 7 days when i train them again...i think i'll be ok though, hope so.

I could do with doing some close grip benching actually, ive never really done this exercise, so going to start using it a lot post contest.

Re: Anyone else suffer from bursitis in elbow joint?

its your choice but when youve put in so much work into bbing like you have, you dont want to have to pack it all in because you ****ed your elbow, just because you didnt want to swap from one type of extension exercise to another type of extension exercise.

if somethings making your elboe hurt just replacer it for something else, a muscles just a muscle it cant tell if your doing skulls or french presses ect it just knows if its being worked hard or not, so why risk putting yourself out of bbing for good for the sake of skull crushers? it dosnt make sense.
