Wide grip pull ups shoulder giving out

Hi all.

I dont know if this is injury or form but when doing wide grip pull ups, and wide grip pull downs but not as much, my right shoulder will often just give out and give a sharp pain. I might manage 4-5 reps but then it will just go. Its always goes when im on the lowest part. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas ?

Thanks

Will.

Yea thats fairly common, its the weird postion that wide grip pulldowns and pullups put your shoulders in its very vunerable to injury. (thats why i wouldnt do them).

Ah ok, cheers.

So any ideas for alternatives. Basically Im trying different ways to hit the lats. Would regular grip pullups hits them just aswell ? I feel like they are more bi's when doing them where as the wider I go the more the lat comes into play but of course am definately going to be extra careful with them now if its a common place for injury.

Yea - im not the best person to talk to about back development PMSL, haha mine is terible but i just use normal hand spaceing for pullups i can still feel it in my lats you just have to avoid swinging and do a stretch at the bottom.

Re: Wide grip pull ups shoulder giving out

they are normally done after deads, and some normal spaced pull ups. I'm doing them tonight so ill try warming up a little better.

Normal pullups I dont swing at all really but I dont lower myself to the point where there is no tension in my lats. Maybe I'll try that tonight.
