Torn cartilage in knee

Hi, recently been having problem wiht me knee locking when running or walking, and i spoke to my tennis coach and he said it could be torn cartilage in knee, anyone else had this, or got any idea what it could be? it not painful just make me walk funny .

Yep. I've had a torn cruciate ligament and cartilage (meniscus).

If you have torn your cartilage then you'll more than likely have floating bits in your knee that may need removing. The meniscus will probably need trimming and tidying up - more than likely using keyhole surgery.

I opted to stay awake and had an epidural for mine

Either way - go see your GP. He should refer you for a scan, although knowing most GPs he'll simply put you on pain medication and tell you to rest...:rage:

Do you have any instability in the knee? Any swelling?

Hi mate, Ok i dont have any swelling and it doenst' hurt, it just locks as i walk or run, last summer i had problem, with the same knee playing competative tennis(heavy baseline that on the court alot, thats probally why!).. and had to have it heavly strapped, and now it my rugby season, so i'm wondering if it an on going problem, that got worse with that knocks in rugby.. .
