Cookie if you ever get chance - let me know what you think of doing Tabatas Press Ups but on a bed (or across two beds) and holding the starting press up position for the breaks... Best Core workout I've had in ages

i second that. size is no indication of true strength.
there are some really big lads (on gear) in my gym who arent all that strong. bodyparts like tendons etc that are made stronger over time have no relevance to size.

its more a genetic thing as well with tendon strenght, but yea you are right with diet manipulation and low reps is possible. (or if your like Con have monkey man arms )

the BWLA record for 82kg lifter in the squat unequped is 220kg odd.. even on gear (unless your useing a fair bit 200kg at sub 90kg is good squat unequiped. thus why i questioned it. lol you see people posting stats all over the internet boards thus my sceptisism not a knock on you mate i dont know you, just it would be easy to settle this by showing a vid.

granted the deadlift and the bench are doable (especialy if your doing them like a powerlifter (the bench i meen)) its the squat i cant get my head round.

was it a single max rep calculator or a actualy PB?

Now i understand you lift raw as a powerlifter but what possible reasion would you not use the support gear when your useing? i dont get it? what association will you lift with as your useing and want to lift raw?

this is going off topic a bit, maby its better as a seperate thread?

Re: when i do standing military press it feels like my back is about to give in

i have just been told by my mate that i was 85 kgs when i did my squat not 80kgs as i thought (so sorry if i mislead anyone as that wasnt my intention). i weigh 80kgs now and havent done a 1rm for ages. i tend to do my big squats in x2. i benched 130kgs the other day though without a shirt and when i weighed myself after i was 80.9kgs (probably all the junk i have been eating) my mate andy doubled 135kgs on the same day and he is only 73kgs. supposedly there is an 80kg guy in our gym who can rep 150 for a good 6-7 but i am yet to see it

Re: when i do standing military press it feels like my back is about to give in

I know I always wear a belt for heavy deads and squats, personal preference as I had one too many back injuries when I used to play rugby!

Anyway back on topic, post a video up and you may get a few pointers! I now do them seated with an oly bar and find these put less stress on your back. They still work a treat for my shoulders!
