Hernia

Right guys, I'm off to hozzie for my hernia op tomorrow morning so I'll be away for a few days. 4 days in hospital (if I don't get too bored and walk out)
It's quite a big op as it's just above my belly button, but the surgeon wants to open me right up and strengthen the whole area right down to my groin due to the bbing. He says there is no point in strengthening one area for somewhere else to go later on, which is a good point. However, he says it's a 4 hour op and I'll be in some considerable pain afterwards, so not looking forward to this one bit.
The worst biit is, no lifting for 6 weeks minimum and that is if all goes well, but on the plus, I can start CV after a couple of weeks if I'm up to it. So a whole month of fat burning...wooohooo.
I am signed off work till jan 6th, which is good, but I only have 11 days sick pay, which is not so good, so it'll be a tight xmas this year.
Feeling pretty down about the whole thing really, what with all this and mum passing 4 weeks ago, plus spending all monday in the friggin cells, (that's another story, but only an idiot driver who thought he could hide behind his window, lock his door and call me a wan*er and I couldn't do anything, he was wrong needless to say)
Anyway, I'll catch you all in a few days....
Oh yeah, i also intend to have an off week and eat evrything I shouldn't, then curse myself for the month it'll take me to lose it all again....
Laters people

Re: Hernia

Enjoy the general anesthetic, IMO its one of the best feelings in the world! Good luck pal, are you getting this done on the NHS? I'm suprised they are gonna do the works for you and not just fix the problem area!

Re: Hernia

^^^lol
It's being done private with BUPA, so hopefully it should be a better experience than would have been on the NHS.
12 hours and counting now. I bet I get no sleep tonight. proper sh*tting it. The pain soesn't bother me, it's the whole being knocked out thing.

Re: Hernia

Lol - I have had a general 5 times in the past three years!!! It is amazing - I would be put under now if I had the chance! Nothing to worry about. They inject you, you feel amazing for about 5 seconds, you wake up a bit hungover in no pain, job done. Plus Bupa will sort you good food after as you will be starving from not eating from 7am or whenever! Not a ****ty peice of toast like the NHS. Which hospital are you having it done in? do you know the name of your surgeon?

Re: Hernia

I had an ACL reconstruction a few years ago and I was knocked out. Everything went fine thankfully. However, for the key hole to clean the joint a month before hand I had an epidural. I watched the whole op and everything was going fine til about an hour after the procedure had finish.

I was sat on the bed waiting for the feeling to come back to my legs when I proceeded to p!ss myself!
