I feel that you wont get the gains you are looking for as the body is constantly changing. Although I do know a guy that one week does reps, then one week does heavy work then the following week he does moderate weight. This seems like a good idea on paper but how would you know if you respond to reps or heavy weight? I mean, if you were looking for something that works you need to notice it or see it. I do totally agree with change but for the most part if you are either getting stronger or bigger then no change is necessary until a plateau is hit.

![]() ![]() | Ok makes sense. I was thinking about it more and if I am in the gym working on doing sets of 10 on deads that doesn't really seem like I am dedicating my time enough to do heavy enough weight that will put on good size. I mean sure those higher reps like 10 maybe good but on deads wouldn't that just be like trying to build some density in your muscle. Which is good but in my case I really feel I need to put on some more size before thinking a long those lines. So I am thinking of sticking around 4-8 reps. Sound good you think?? |

I think some guys have a better CNS (fast twitch) and can lift heavier. Some will burnout faster than others lifting heavy. I myself think that in the beginning when working out you will need lighter weights, to get the form and strengthen the connective tissue down then you can add the weight. Finding out what is your best rep range is a totally personal issue. All people can be right in regards to what works best (with them). Diet, stress, sleep, age, gear, frequency of working out, genetics, supplements, diet, bad luck , all play factors.Bump for Saturday and Not Friday ![]() Ouch some beer is involved here .........Bump for smarter more aleart people..........OUCH!!!!!! ![]() ![]() | Here what you are saying on the heavy reps and so forth. I think what it comes down to is I need to just listen to my body and work my hardest and when I have given a 100% on the heavy weight then I know I will get big because I know my strength will go up |

JSM I would simply do either as big suggests and try it or do each one for at least 2 weeks and then compare results, make sure to journal all your lifts/workouts/diet and how you felt after each workout that way you have some feedback to work from.. | |
