is my diet holding me back

(my question is for some one that knows what they are talking about)

ive been wieght training on and off since i was 16 and now i am 24,longest time being for about 14 months and then taking long periods out due to family'children'.due to the wieght training that i have done i am quite bulky wieghing in about the 20 stone mark, standing 6 ft 2 tall.this year i have been following a healthy eating plan.when i started this i was 21st 11 lb, and now down to 19 and a half. This is the thing thats getting me down, i train with my borther in law 3 times a week on split body routines which is great, but in the last thew months i have got weaker and hes progressed to become stronger.we are both the same build and hes a stone havier. This is the bit confusing me ... when we started i was 20 kg better than him on the bench press and as we both progressed i maintained that cushion on him, over the past 3 months my benchpress has decressed by 10 kg and hes over took me by 10 kg...i just want to say we are conpedative but take things very sirious in the gym try to help one another on trianing and on diet... where iam going wrong am i losing wieght to quick, or does our program suit him better? it gets you down when you putting in the same amount off effort and you see some one doing alot better than you.
I know i should not compare my self to other peoples progress but i bet he is comparing to me... some body help me please ... when i go in to the gym i just fell down now adays and not good about my self..... j lewis aka ginsters:(

Post up your diet mate, and also what are your aims? If your aim is to lose fat and gain muscle, then perhaps you've lost a lot of fat, going from 21 stone to 19 stone, so it wouldn't be all bad.

If you are already in the habit of compairing and measuring yourself by those around you then you are going to be fcuked what ever you do. There will always be somebody lifting alttile more, running faster, jumping higher and looking better. Its just life.

You must become happy with your own progress and belive in your self to succeed.

I'll let the experts talk about your diet and traiing but your mind is just as important, lift to YOUR best, aim for YOUR OWN goals, measure YOUR success. Its not easy J as we live in a world where comparision is the norm. But it does not bring you happiness.

Belive in yourself, follow the guidance from the pros on here - good luck mate.

jas here you asked for my dieat:

wright here goes: first muti vit and 1 cod liver oil

breakfast:6 poached eggs ,4 pieces of toast cup of tea

dinner:usally i dont have much for dinner because my breakfast gets me threw till tea time but if iam hungry i would have a sandwhich 4 pieces of bread and somtimes a pack of crisps this happens 3 or 4 times a week

tea:my partner allways cooks for me generally cooked roast with all differnt vegies and plenty of roasters, now and again i have chips and pizza fish southernfried chicken, all kinds of stuff youg children have as i have 3 children just to make life easy for her.

i am also eating 1 to 2 cans of drainded tuna a day 1 in the affter noon and 1 befor i go a bed but allways on training days,i am allso eating plenty off chicken breast and all the other lean meats that have plenty of protein, the frezzer filled up with it.

one other thing i do tend to stray at the weekend wether it my be a takeaway or a thew beers i then tend to put on 5 or 6 pounds and then lose it in the week,i spose that just bad habbits i need to get out of.

i have just started making my own protein shakes out of dreid powered malk untill i can get the whey protein..cost money!
this is basically my dieat, but i havent got a clue on how much protein i am having or how much i should be taking a day allso the same on the carbs? i know if i can get this right alot of the jigsaw will come together

my aim is to loose as much fat as possiable and to gain as much muscle as possiable as i dont have much at the moment.

my stats are:
HIGHT:6FT 2 INCH
WEIGHT: 19:2 lb
BODY MASS:34:3
BODY FAT WEIGHT:6 STONE:10 LB
BODY FAT PERCENTAGE%35:4
H2O BODY WATER PERCENTAGE % 47:3 .

as i said i am training 3 times a week on split body parts tues thurs and sunday, i do a warm up on every exersise and then 4 sets pyrmaid 12 reps down to 6 increasing weight on each set 12 10 8 6 ... i allso train in karate monday 1 and half hours and wesnesday a double session 3 hours so this is my cardio in the week, i take my karate very sirious and iam striving to do well espacaily in the kumate/fighting,this i think is a big reason why i lost the weight i think? not so much the healthy eating plan.

if you can give any good advice on what ive said it would much be aperciatated
cheers then jas.

You have to eat every 3 hours so to spike you metabolism and to feed your muscles
i would suggest you get some mixed seeds and snack on them mid-morning then at lunch have either a chicken salad or tuna salad in the salad include olives/advocado's and some olive oil this will cover your good fats.

if you want to lose fat you have to eat strict all day even if you have kids if your missus makes a roast then just have the meat and veg don't have the roasties.
if she isn't going to cook this then grill off some chicken and have some veg and good fats with it.

your diet does not say to me that you have loads of chicken remember it is no good in the freezer it should be cooked and placed in tupper where

having one cheat meal if you have been strict in the week is a good thing but if you are splurging all weekend then that is bad

you are approx 280lbs and you should be eating at least that in protein but you come no where near.

i think you should increase your training to 4 day split training individual muscls per day this on its own will stimulate your metabolism...

i have to dash now but i can help you with a better diet later if you wish

Paul..
