![]() | I'm finally back from my vacation and looking forward to starting a good training regime. I've been reading arnolds' modern encyclopedia of bodybuilding and its been a very good introduction. It proposes a few beginner training regimes and diets which i'll start with, however i need to sort out a gym first... The problem is i dont live near to any gyms and it will be quite a hassle to go there (some distance) frequently. It's already putting me off thinking about it! ... So, the alternative is obviously something at home, i cant get a huge multi-gym setup (because of size / money) so im looking at getting a workout bench. So basically im looking for help on finding a good one.One that will suit a beginner - intermediate , is durable and obviously the price has got to be right. Help is realllly needed so i can get started as soon as possible! Thanks! |

![]() | Surely the question wasn't THAT bad!! Ok, ive been searching around and i have found this: http://www.simplyfitnessequipment.co...orm-G710-Bench It seems to be good quality, relatively cheap (store near me sells it 40 quid cheaper) but most of all it looks like i will get a lot of usage from it. Any glaring disadvantages with this bench .... any thing i might need to know when buying a bench ..? Help really is appreciated so i can get started soon! Regards. |

Never owned a bench, but from using them at gym's all that matters is that they do the basics. Being able to adjust it to incline would be a bonus. The one you posted up looks decent. If you're training at home, one disadvantage is you won't be able to push yourself as much as you might like because (I presume?) you won't have a spotter. Maybe you can ask a mate to train with you. As for Arnie's book, it's a good read, lots of good advice, but I wouldn't advise following the routines, I think he talks in that book about doing 25 sets per bodypart, and that's far too much.

![]() | Cheers for the reply, no i won't have a spotter but i hope it won't hamper my progress to much. Im not sure about the routines in Arnie's book, im hoping to post them up soon (and the diet plans) and get some feedback on them. I have to get hold of that bench first! Regards. |
