If you can lift standing... do it.

Think function over isolation. (the whole body and the interdependance of its parts)

Until I started Opportunitas I had been doing seated dumbell shoulder presses for 3 years and could hapily lift 36kg dumbells for 3x8 - I have obviously been neglecting core strength as I can now only hit 32kg for the 1x5 standing!

Definately seated press, you dont start using your back muscles to over compensate your shoulders doing it seated.

Plus your less likely to injur yourself doing them seated I think!

I was doing seated presses but doing standing now for more of the core benefits standing presses are tough but thats all the more reason that I do them!

I would have expected you to be able to push more standing than seated.

I do both, but prefer seating when going over 65kg due to the presure in my lower back.

I used to get this mate, try a staggered stance gives you a lot more stability.

Just as Cheater said, I get lower back stress when doing presses standing.....I have a naturally quite arched lower back so when I'm seated I can press my back into the seat and feel a lot more supported. When standing I feel as though the weight is putting a sh1t load of strain on my lower back trying to arch it more
