Is there any benefits from buying....

Hi, OK so over the years I've built up over 150 Kilo's worth of standard weight plates ( 1" ). Now whats the difference in using standard weightlifting gear to Oly stuff? Is it just a case of " better quality "?

I don't want to go re buy a load of new oly stuff if I can get the same results using all my older standard plates & bars.... I have 2 special bars too... a Trapbar and a cambared Squat bar and do not want to have to re buy those there pretty dam expensive

150 kg is a 150 kg doesn't matter if it's on a standard bar or an olympic bar. Wouldn't make any difference in my opinion.

The only thing I can think of is that olympic bars are rated to about 320+ kg whereas standard bars are not as strong and can take about 120-150 kg.

oly bars have a standard weight aswell (20kg), whereas standard bars tend to vary a lot, so make sure you weigh it and take its weight into account. all a bar is really is a stick with heavy bits on the end, oly just tend to be heavier duty
