Abs

Who actually does ab exercises or things like broomstick twists for the muscles that surrond the abs? ive been told that because things like squats work the abs anyways you dont really need to do exercises for them, opinions?

definately

there was a thread on this recently, i never personally used to bother, as you say the get worked on other exercise,s, but they are a muscle none the less and should be worked.

Only over the last few months have i been doing mine, but i do a variety of ex,s now, and the broom twists as well, as you have the obliques and intercostals in there aswell, i do 4 ex,s for sets of 25 reps 3 times a week, i reckon this is more than enough for me.

Depends on what you're doing and what your goals are.

If you're going to do anything, do heavy weighted crunches.

I think ab exercises are essential. You need to work them directly imo. I do about 4 sets 2-3 times a week. Many people neglect abs but they I think strong abs can definitely help with other exercises anyway. You could do them at the start of your workout as they do not tax to much energy and are a good warmup. I like crunches, leg lifts and reverse crunches(as seen in Rocky) these are great. Some people don't recommend doing broomstick twists because building obliques too much can make you look wider. The little piano keys are brilliant to look at though, don't you think?
