![]() ![]() | Ok i done four sets of shugs today using the lower pulley cable and a lat bar so that i can get a shoulder width type grip. I alternated from doing shugs in front and then behind. Not sure if you would all do them the same way but it was a nice workout as im starting fairly light as i have only just started them. The rear shugs feel great in the trap area so at least by doing front and rear 2 sets each im hitting them from both sides....Will do these for a while and see how i get on, maybe every 3 weeks change to 3 sets of dumbell shugs as a change.

![]() | I find that rotating the shoulders during the movement actually reduces the intensity of the contraction in the Traps. I tend to do a stright lift, tilting my head back slightly and then holding the movement at the top for a second. Weight is the key here though, if you want massive Traps you have to lift massive weights. I use a barbell for my shrugs, about 80kg-90kg to start with (4 drop sets, reducing the weight each time).
