What excercises are best to isolate the lower abs and what excerise do you recommend to lose those so called love handles1

I asked the ab question a while back. There are no real "lower ab isolation" exersizes. Lower BF is what promotes ab definition. Although, in saying that if you don't have strong abs to begin with they wont be defined.

So basically start crunchin boy! Leg raises are good, gym ball crunches work wonders. Up the weight though, not the reps.

As for the love handles (ar$e right?) Squats mate. Can't go past the best exersize in gym history ;)

Heres something we do at Boxing which everyone seems to have missed out on.

When overloading Abs, do your normal amount of sit ups, crunches, v-sits etc. And then for 2minutes lay down, raise legs to 90degrees, slowly lower them until they hover bout 6inches off the deck.Hold this for 10seconds. Repeat this over and over until time is taken up. It is guaranteed to get your stomachscreaming at you after a hardcore workout.

This is my first post so let me know what you thik of i, wether im an igit, or its actually useful! cheers.

Welcome,

Bruce lee used to do something similar head and feet off ground, whilst watching TV, for as long as possible then repeat.

similar to above but as an isometric contraction

Best ab exercise (for looks) is... diet.

There are no lower abs, it is one muscle down. But most people only train half the range of motion for them at best.

For just abdominal conditioning aka core stabailization I'd do hyper crunches with weights over a dumbbell (see: training - oppurtunitas book) but another version of the same thing can be done simular with the ab mat. (see: http://www.abmat.co.uk/situp.htm )

Yes I put up a UK link for once hahaha.
