sorry i didn't explain myself i know you cannot do it in the literal sense
its like saying if you work abs your fat will disappear
your abs just get bigger and you lose fat and they begin to show through
i do know anyway i made myself sound stupid!

ok what i mean is
you need fat as a fuel to gain muscle
how much fat you have has nothing to do with how much muscle you put on i mean to get stronger and gain muscle
i don't know what i am saying anymore but only that fat can be used as fuel when working out which means you burn that and then from food and training means you gain muscle!

Hey guys,

OK first things first 'over recent years my work and social life has got in the way of my working out'. Come on!!! Thats CRAP. Lets be truthful. I got lazy!!!

Had to get that off my chest.

This is a age old topic, cut then bulk or vice versa? Is it possible to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time?? For me I never expect to achieve this brave goal. I have different training and diet routines for

1) gaining as much LBM (with gaining minimal fat) hypercaloric
2) loosing as much fat as possible (with loose as little fat as possible) hypocaloric

With respect to this case, my advice is to aim to loose the fat first (aim for less than 12%), then stack the muscle on. So I 'would you suggest that you trim down a bit first and then start to build muscle mass' but lifting weights is a intergral part of this!!!!!

So while your,

eating below maintainance calories
6 meals a day. protein in each
etc etc etc etc etc, (read other threads or contact me)

I am sure u add some muscle on the way, just dont expect too much.

p.s. could someone PM me details of turning fat into muscle, much appreciated :-)

Very true, you do not get 2 stone overweight easily, it's all a case of priorities.....
