Beginner not sure where to start.

Hi everyone,
You must get sick of questions like this but here goes. I'm 36, female and I've been going to the gym for a couple of years, recently got disheartened and haven't been for 4 mths because I'm still the same weight I was when I started with no visual results, flabby, overweight and downright sick of it. Feel I'm waisting my time. But, I've always been interested in body building, enjoy lifting weights and feeling the muscles work, so after trawling the internet all weekend for info I've decided this is what I want to pursue. A lot less flab and a lot more muscle. I've read loads of stuff about eating five to six small meals a day, (what is small??) and realise I've basically put my body into starvation mode, generally following the advice of instructos who tell you to reduce your food intake to lose weight. (no wonder I haven't lost weight) I've also come across reams of people all wanting to sell me there latest book, suppliment or gadget. What I can't seem to find is what sort of workout I need to start to up the anti or generally good solid advice. My diets basically wholefood but could be a lot better. Any light you could shed on this for me would really, really help as I generally workout on my own and don't Know anyone at the gym.

Re: Beginner not sure where to start.

I do 3hrs cardio, 3hrs weights, 2hs stretching (e.g. pilaties) and I basically eat three meals a day breakfast, lunch dinner, I try to keep the meals balanced but I think my portion sizes are a bit to large.

WOW !!!! EVERY DAY ????

A little too much exercise there for anything but overtraining, you will not progrerss but regress with a schedule like that.

Check out the threads for a beginners program, lots around that are sound.

well maybe not, it all depends on what and how much of something you consume, calorie contecnt and all.

Hi

Why don't you take a look at "Tans world" and "Lins Journal" threads. Go into Members pictures in the Gallery section.

Their both females who are keeping threads on their training, diet and progress.

Good luck

Re: Beginner not sure where to start.

Sorry, I do mean eight hrs a wk not a day. I think eight hrs a day would be suicide not impressive. Will look at threads you suggest, keep suggestions coming, it' all helpful. Thanks
