Need some Help/Advice..

Alright lads? Wondered if you could give me a little helping hand. I need some information and preferably a good routine to get into to start my cardio/weights training..

Here goes.. I'm 5'10 and i weight 15stone 1 pound. Ive went down from 16stone 7 pounds in 5 weeks and my diet is going strong still. Most of my fat is around my Thighs and Stomach area, with massive love handles which i want rid of also. I'm aiming to be around 13 stone after dieting.. My build is quite broad and my shoulders aint small.

Now i honestly havent done any serious exercise for 3-4 years. Im too conscious about my weight - and the fact that even simple exercise like walking has me sweating buckets.. But i've realised i need to work to fix everything and im planning on going to a gym. Now this is where im stuck, I know doing cardio should be my first option, building up my stamina and such.. But what next? Idealy i want some nice noticable pecs and muscle on my shoulders back and arms and some noticable abs. Nothing too drastic though..

I'm currently doing 25-50 situps a night before bed, and around 15-20 minutes on a trampoline..

Whats my best options?

Apreciate any help you lads give me and if anyone from around the Middlesbrough area can reccomend me some decent gyms i'd also be thankful. I've been told that Natural progression in Stockton is a good one..

Do crunches, not sit ups ... you get a bad back in a few years if you do sit ups.

Just a nice 3 day split with higher protein intake .... ensuring you push hard in your routines the weight will soon drop off

Re: Need some Help/Advice..

Have put a comment on your posting on the Welcome section. That is a lot of weight loss, anything over 2lbs a week usually involves some muscle loss. Slowly is better.

Eat six meals a day of good quality food. Eat high protein and good oils. Do not try to starve yourself slim, or you will end up a lighter version of a fat shape. Read the postings about cutting diets on this site and the beginners info for bodybuilding and exercising.

Try out the gyms and find trainers who know what they are doing who will motivate you to go to the gym and try hard. Although the cardio is good for stamina and fitness and good for your heart, good form weight training has similar effects on your body. It also builds lean muscle which will burn off your fat quicker.

Don't worry about being a newbie at the gym, out of shape compared to others or put off by the thought you will be sweating buckets. I wear old clothes to the gym, rightly called sweats because that is what I do in them. I am there to get my body working and looking better and no one else in that gym matters....

Re: Need some Help/Advice..

Well yesterday i went out and bought me some york 25kg dumbells+bar from argos just to start me off a little bit.

I did 3 lots of 8 curls with 7kg on each arm, put 15kg on the bar and did 20 slow double armed curls? Don't know if thats the right name for em.. And then finished my self off with the dumbells again lifting them up at full stretch and back down slowly, i did 2x 10 of these on each arm..

I can definatly feel what i did yesterday as my arms feel tighter and ache a bit..

Im going to take some pictures of my currently, and hope that in 6 weeks theres going to be a difference in me.

Cheers. Carl.
