Now I'm a bodybuilder!

Well I'm not, not really.

At what stage of your training did you start to feel that you looked like a bodybuilder?

I.e:
when you could bench 1.5 times your bodyweight
After 2 years training
When you got down to 10% bf

etc, etc

Re: Now I'm a bodybuilder!

There's loads of different speculations TBH....

Many guys who compete say you're only a bodybuilder when you've competed, and I tend to agree.

There was a similar thread going about not so long ago.

Re: Now I'm a bodybuilder!

I disagree...To be a competetive BB or a professional BB then yes you would have to do a comp. But to break the word down...anybody doing something to build there body into something that it was not is a bb...

So people who lift heavy weights are powerlifters then??

A bodybuider is the complete loop, bulk, diet and compete IMO!

Re: Now I'm a bodybuilder!

Or another example is "I do boxing".. It's totally different to "I am a boxer".. You train for size and you are bodybuilding "building your body".. But to be a bodybuilder you must complete the loop.

(This thread = CAN OF WORMS OPENED lol)

Re: Now I'm a bodybuilder!

Sorry guys, what I was implying with the question is not when does everyone else consider you to be a bb but when you felt as though you looked like one i.e at what stage was you when you started to notice some muscle on your frame.

Sorry, poorly written first question.

Why not...? Just because someone chooses not to compete with others or get componsation for it means they aren't what the word describes...?

Re: Now I'm a bodybuilder!

i dont think i look like a bber even now, when i have competed four times and am about 3-4 stone heavier than when i started.... even though all my peers see me as a 'beefcake',,, and i suppose i get a few looks in the street, i dont feel different... think its down to my mentality... i feel i am skinny still

Re: Now I'm a bodybuilder!

What I have posted makes total sense and I'm not going to continue to go over and over it. It's my opinion and no matter how many times someone disagrees I will never change it.

Body Building - training for size
Body Builder - Size, Cut and compete.

i would have to agree here with luke... as a competitor it is a little disgruntling to hear someone call themselves a bber when they havent gone the whole way.... though i can see both sides of the argument and some non competitors have fantastic physiques and could actually do very well...
