Cardio in the Evening.

Hello all, i am very new to the bodybuilding scene and i am currently working a 4 day week at the gym concentrating on Chest and tris's Monday, Back and bi's Tuesday, Shoulders traps on Thursdays and Legs Fridays.

I also want to do quite a bit of cardio to help me with my fitness and stamina. I do 30 minutes swimming after the gym sessions and my question is:

Is it "ok" to do cardio after 9 at night as i aim to get back into the gym to do rowing/running/cycling after i finish work at 9.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Very impressed with the help people have to give on this forum so far

Re: Cardio in the Evening.

I dont think its bad to do cardio at any time of the day if your looking to lose weight, it all depends what your goals are, swimming after weights to me would mean overtraining but I may be wrong, I believe the best time for cardio is early morning on an empty stomach for burning fat. COuld you not do your swimming in the morning ??

Re: Cardio in the Evening.

training at night is fine, just ensure you have ample nutrition before you sleep
cardio AM, PM, in fact B-ZPM is just fine as long as its sensible and recovery is factored in

Re: Cardio in the Evening.

I do cardio in the mornings most days, or go for a swim after the weights. On Friday evenings I go to kickboxing and do some cardio and heavy weights as well. But I am cutting and training for a contest in October. Just be aware of your body, lack of motivation or tiredness will soon show up if you are overtraining.

Thanks for that. It is more of a light swim after the weights and usually give it a miss on leg day as i cant even walk, let alone swim
Cant do swimming in the morning unfortunately as have to be at work for 9.

When i do cardio, i have a protein shake before i go to bed, or i will sometimes have an omelette.

WOW I bet you are busy!! Sure its worth it though
I am still very motivated, I am obviously feeling more tired than usual but should be fine when I get used to my new lifestyle/routine. The changes happening to my body are keeping me going, I love it!!
