Thoughts on this routine?

Hi guys - I'm just getting back into training after a while out after doctor's advice (false alarm - I can train). Anyway I've gotten out of the loop and need to build a routine - I've sought out advice and came across this:

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/mahler62.htm

Just wondering what people think of it? Almost sounds too good to be true insofar as you're working out less for apparently equally good results, but if that's the case then great. How would this stack up against, say, a 3-day split? To save you reading the whole the gist is you work out twice a week, splitting each routine in 2 parts of 2 exercises and doing those 2 exercises antagonistically (a set of ex1, then a set of ex2, repeat 3 times, then do ex's 3 and 4 etc).

Background: 28, 5'11", 182lbs, want to bulk arms above all else, interested in toning what I have rather than gaining a lot of new mass.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Thoughts on this routine?

hey dude,

there is no such thing as toning.... i think you mean increase muscle while losing fat

the workout looks good for a beginner but there are better abbreviated routines on the web and on bb .com.... why not try looking for a 3 day full body hypertrophy routine

Mahlers plan is fine, nothing too off the scale

The notion of less work doesnt mean its easier as the intensity has to increase, this will wipe you out if done correctly and with the overload it suggests.

If not, it will be poor

I still stand by my suggestions here
