For what its worth in my opinion (for bodybuilding purposes) you should have lowered the weight considerably and concentrated more on contracting the muscles involved and less on moving the weight up and down which is irrelevant. Get the mind into the muscle and train that as opposed to training your ego, which should be left at the door when you enter the gym. I'm not having a go just expressing an opinion and giving you an idea of how to make the exercise more productive at building muscle which is the ultimate aim no? Your strength and commitment to the set is not in question, just the logic of it.

| Gym Addict | Re: Rear deltoid exercise thanks for the advice aftershock and i will take it into consideration but imo you have to try to break new ground and set new goals to progress. i was doing that weight in the style you suggest a few months after that vid was taken but i find you have to get a bit of momentum going the first time you try a heavier db out or you just end up stagnating ![]()

Obviously good spotters are vitally important and while you should do as many reps as you can (in good form) unassisted then have your spotter assist you and guide you for several more forced reps to increase the intensity. Also don't neglect the negative on the forced reps, all these things help so that when you go up to the next weight you are prepared for it. I'm not being patronizing but you really don't want to drop a 50k dumbbell on you bonse I guarantee it wont be a pleasant experience ![]()
