The Power of 5

Hi guys (and girls). I was just wondering, along with a good diet and training regime, if you had to go back to when you were a no0b and choose 5 supplements to help you with your training what would they be?

More importantly; Training for Size & Strength or Bulking. The 5 items ideally should be sold on myprotein.co.uk so i can have a look at pricing later!

Cheers,

Beachbod

Fair enough, Thanks for the quick replies (especially MXD) I'll wait for another few replies before evaluating what i shall buy and in what quantities! MXD: If i can I'll make sure to use your 5% discount code.

Cheers guys.

I'd save the money and use it to buy more steak/chicken/salmon/etc.

Re: The Power of 5

EAA are essential amino acids = not required at this level
EFA = essential fatty acids = most in diet but fish oils if you are vege/vega and dont eat fish
ECA = eph/caff/asp and certainly not worth bothering with

For me if your diet is on then whey PWO is enough
maltodextrin if you struggle with easy calories to add weight

beyond that no point loading something up for the hell of it

Supplements are of course that

Like supplementing your income with a 2nd job then trying to find 4 more jobs just because you think supplementing is needed....if you earn enough money from your main job you dont need a second. if you earn enough from main job and one small job you dont rely on then you have no need to look for more work

Re: The Power of 5

Top quality food, especially protein sources comes first with me when I spend money. Only supplements I take are Protein shake (in case I can't eat enough protein in a day) and a fat burner. Good oils are added to my diet.

Re: The Power of 5

When I get back to uni and start trying to bulk properly for the first time, i'm thinking about using something like

Whey protein
Creatine
BCAAs
Maybe some kind of Vitamin tablets
Maybe something to give me some more fibre.

I'm going keep researching on these though, make sure I get what I need.

(my diet is good alongside all these ofc)

Re: The Power of 5

I am a noob, my 5 choices are:

whey protein
creatine
fish oil (not ordered yet so not sure which)
maltodextrin (not ordered yet but may do after recent advice)

Hmmm, that's only 4. If I had to choose a 5th I guess maybe some powdered oats, I've been looking at this to perhaps add to my shakes.

Re: The Power of 5

Thanks a lot all of you who replied back! Really appreciate the feedback, I'll make sure to consider my options well and look at the money aspect of it all, I used to go to the Gym quite a lot at 16/17 and was able to bench 55KG which was pretty good considering i was skinny when i first started out and i piled on the muscle very quickly. Then i got myself my first legit transport; a Motorbike and found myself eager to leave the gym and jump straight onto my motorbike all the time so i never really was focused. Now I feel as I've lost all the muscle that i had (atrophy) because I've been lying in my bed for the last 2 months with a broken leg (broken in 3 places with open fracture) so I'm hoping to get back into it as soon as I'm better. Taking it easy at first but gradually going back to total fitness. It's all i think about these days to be honest, I want to get back into the saddle and really work hard towards my goals which of i have many!

Anyway keep the replies coming! Thanks, Beachbod

LS - I say eaa because I don't use whey and find them superior in every single way.

Ditto...but for a newbie I would play that card later in the poker game when all the gimmies' of initial training and diet have been handed out
