That sounds kind of typical the thing about curries. The currys given at resteraunts are totally different form the curries a lot of asians eat.

Mate you either want abs or you don't. If you do you have to make sacrifices and plan your meals like others have said, you need to know EXACTLY what is going inside your body, how much and when. That way you can make adjustments if things are not going to plan. From what you have said it sounds to me you don't know exactly how much is going inside your body, you just want tasty food...I rarely have abs through the off season but 3 weeks into my comp diet and you get bet that they are there..why? because I have a plan in place.

Can I ask how much cardio you are doing and when?

if I do not have time in the day then I prepare all my meals in boxes the night before, thats just the way it is, its a lifestyle I choose to lead to get results and good ones at that.. you want a good body then you HAVE to make sacrifises, theres no if's or buts involved
thats 100% correct... fail to plan, plan to fail (as james l says )

sorry if i mis-understood... Asian dishes... so oriental/Indian dishes.

when you mentioned chapaties just sounded like Indian foods

Re: How do I get defined abs? Also I put weight on regardless of good deit and cardio

I agree with the others, you need to concentrate on your diet. You can train as hard as you want at the gym but if your diet is poor you are wasting your time. I dont believe anyone is in a situation where its impossible to eat right, unless of course you live in somalia or something!
I used to be the kind of guy who missed breakfast sometimes, had a couple of steak pies for lunch, went the gym followed by a big dinner and makybe a shake if i had room and went to bed - and then got ****ed off with everything because i was staying at the same weight.
Ive had a bit of a reality check after reading a few things on this forum, worked out what my calorie intake should be per day and now this is my diet(roughly) - and granted you are trying to burn fat as opposed to my trying to bulk up but obviously you'll have to tailor it to yourself.

I get up at 7am (ouch!) so i can eat 2 poached eggs on 2 toast
- shower
back in front of the telly with a bowl of porridge
- work for 9
by about 11 im eating a brown roll with turkey and watercress/hoummus
lunch at 1
about 4 ill have a bagel with something on top
- gym after work
home for a shake
followed by dinner, usually chicken with rice or steak or mince
maybe another shake before bed if i have room

on this diet im taking in about 3000 cals

heres a few links which might help you plan a better diet
http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/
http://www.thecaloriecounter.com/

As for working your abs yes you need to do more cardio to burn that fat off, it helps a lot to know what heart rate you should be working at to burn the most cals. If you cant find that out (ask the gym staff) then basically you should be sweating your **** off with your heart going like mad. Try some abs after every workout and eventually you'll notice yourself getting fitter and able to do more situps or whatever.

Knowledge is power mate.

Re: How do I get defined abs? Also I put weight on regardless of good deit and cardio

Four months ago the owner of the gym I attend spoke the immortal words " You are not eating enough, particularly protein, to build muscle or lose fat" and told me I had to eat five or six times a day. I found it hard to eat enough, especially after years of thinking I had to eat little on a diet to lose weight. I really struggled to eat the steak, turkey, eggs, fish, cottage cheese and other things that I need to include in my diet plan. In the end I included protein shakes with raw eggs added to top up my protein intake.

Four months on, I have lost 14kg in body weight, much of it fat. I look lean and have clearly defined abs (which I train four times a week - it works for me). I have more muscle showing than I have ever had before.

Yes it is hard to eat all the right things, and lots of them. Your diet may be healthy (lean meat, carbs, veggies ) but it is not really a clean bodybuilding diet as such.

I guess the question to ask yourself is how motivated you are to make the changes, to achieve the look you want. Personally I am willing to eat what I have to and train till I sweat blood to get the look I want, and it is working.

After reading your previous posts you have joined a bodybuilding forum nearly a year ago and posted about muslim faith, laptops and something about a job, randomly punctuated with the odd bit on training

Maybe alter your choice of reading/posting to get the info you want?

The shape of your abs is down to YOUR genetics.

Apologies if Im only half reading but that title of post kind of annoyed me, almost an oxymoron

How do I get defined abs? Also I put weight on regardless of good deit and cardio

How could you ever get abs if you are putting on weight nomatter what diet and no matter what cardio. Surely you would be weighing more day by day ? Its a very negative and self defeatist statement. Read up on good weight loss diets in these forums, there are also alot of weight loss journals in here. Read as much as you can and learn from other peoples experiences and knowledge. You arent putting on weight depsite diet or cardio, you are putting on weight due to lack of knowledge of how to achieve your goals
