Could do with some advice!

Im currently training to get my fitness level up as im going to be starting my basic training for the Army soon.

Basically I need some advice with gaining weight and muscle mass... Im currently doing alot of work with not much pay off!

Heres my stats..

Height: 187 CM
Weight: 66 KG

My current workout:

Upperbody work with dumbells (everyday)
Abs work (every other day)
6km run (3 times a week)

Im also taking 100grams of Whey Protien powder each day.

Ive been thinking about using Creatine will this help?

Hi Alex, welcome to UK-Muscle !

I'd say you are overtraining your upper body - your muscles need time to rest & recouperate. Once or Twice a week per bodypart is quite sufficient.

Also, where is your leg workout? .. definately need to start doing some weight based leg work - your WHOLE body will benefit from this.

Regarding Creatine, it's a safe, popular and effective supplement which is certainly worth trying.

Hello mate.

If your looking at getting bigger then i would:

a) Only run once a week at 6km
b) Run 3 times a weeks at 3-4km

You are doing a lot of cardio if you are looking at putting on size. I know running will help keep you lean and fit but it is a killer for putting on size.

Paul

Just been browsing http://www.proteinfactory.co.uk (nice site btw) and came across these

http://www.proteinfactory.co.uk/prod...oductTypeID=21

"4-AD-EC Pro-Steroid Delivery System" Anyone know much about these? I wouldn't touch steroids normally (Armed Forces prohibits it and we get tested every 6 months) but these appear legal so shouldn't be a problem. Has anyone used these?

Hi Alex, glad you like the site

To be honest, if your new to weight training I would advise steering clear of products like 4-AD and MAG10 for the time being. You can make excellent gains naturally by using products like Creatine and by increasing your calorie intake.

If you start incorporating leg work into your weight routine, decrease your cardio a bit like Paul suggested and add a serving of a weight gainer shake (something like Prolab N-Large) into your daily diet I think you'll be pleased with the results.

Once your progress begins to stall then start looking at products like 4AD and MAG10.

OK - http://t-mag.com/html/body_130dawg.html was a really helpful article in most ways, gave me some good ideas, but unfortunately it didn't take into account that some of us are complete newbies.

I was with it most of the way, but when it was listing the exercises to do, some of them i couldn't work out what it meant (eg Dumbbell Flyes).

Is there a site somewhere that describes each of these exercises and best ways to do them?

Question re-born

Hi, I'm not sure I'm doing the right thing. I have just recognized this site and if I am sending this message to a wrong place, please warn me.

I never made body building exercises before and since I was quite fit until 2-3 years ago, I was't interested in. I used to run and walk, but as exercise, you can say I did nothing so far.

But I am 29 now and gaining weight. Actually I am 154 pounds(70 kg) and 5'8inch(176cm), not bad, I am happy with this weight since I was so thin before, but the problem is, my body shape is rapidly getting like a "pear". My shoulders and chest are narrow and thin, my waist is thick from birth, so my upper body looks like a rectangle. Guess how I would look like with only a small amount of weight gain!

Now I have chance to follow a training saloon every day for at least 4 months and want to break my lazy way of life. I want to upgrade my shoulders and chest, want to turn fats around my waist to muscles. I need a proffessional program enough to shape me irreversably at least with a small amount of protective exercise after I turn back to my regular busy life after these 4 months.

I'd appreciate if you share time for me. And if this massege has reached to a wrong place and if you know the right place, please guide me, thanks. alp_bas@hotmail.com
