Alone or with buddy?

Just wondering whether many of you train with a proper BB coach / training partner or if you just basically go to the gym and do your stuff. Just wondering coz I've noticed some guys turn up together each week and sur each other on etc... some alone (me)...How do you know you're training properly with correct form etc if you're on your own?? I know mirrors help..and coming on here!!
How do you guys and girls train? How do you correct yourself???

Re: Alone or with buddy?

I've had two training partners in 18 yrs...when schedules allow I train with a partner or just go it alone if necessary...Would advice seeking a partner with experiance if your just starting...read,watch, study, but most importantly, listen to your body...

Re: Alone or with buddy?

I end up doing both. There is a guy at the gym i train with when he can fit me in. (which is most days) Other times i train on my own. I like training on my own sometimes, i get focused and its good. With my trainer though he pushes me really hard so thats cool too.

Re: Alone or with buddy?

In a lot of ways I'd love a training partner but my schedule doesn't really permit it - differnt gyms, different days and times... At least if all I need is a spot there are guys out there who would do it.

Trained with someone for the past year. Moved gyms and started am training now so I'm on my own again. Just call for a spot as and when.

Re: Alone or with buddy?

I had 2 training partners in the past,,fell out with the first one we used 2work togther as well ,,needless 2 say that ended the sametime as the training partnership did,,,was good training with him and we both made some gains..
Second training partner moved away,,which was a bum++r as the man was an animal to train with ..knew his stuff and was`nt affraid to,let people know what was what..
Now I train on my own at home,,sad and lonely

Im a garage warrior and i like it.
No gimps telling you not to squat low, and "deadlifts are bad for your back you know!"

Have to say it would be handy to have a spot every now and then, and someone to kick your ****, but getting schedules to fit is a nightmare

Re: Alone or with buddy?

Ive worked both with a training partner and alone. Working alone allows you to choose your own pace and ragieme. But working with a partner can really give you some motivation and intensity, i know personally im always trying to match or beat my training partner and mabe causing me to work that little bit harder than usual

Re: Alone or with buddy?

I have had numerous training partners and they have been so unreliable I just went alone!! A mate has just switched to my gym who is a serious trainer so I am hoping to get a few sessions with him!

Raw where abouts do you train in coventry btw??

Re: Alone or with buddy?

I focus better when I train alone. I also incorporate rest pause sets and partials and whatnot so I really don't need a training partner for anything like forced reps/heavy negatives; my body gets all the pounding it needs !

Re: Alone or with buddy?

I train with my room mate who is just a bit weaker than me and same body weight, my girl friend who is obviously weak but unloads weights very well lol and for the summer my brother also who is 200lb and just a bit weaker than the room mate.
Works well for me as i dont train with volume or speed rather just few intense sets.

Re: Alone or with buddy?

Non term time I have a dedicated partner who will train 6 times a week without fail. At Uni I'll do things at home and alone in the gym there other days. Much much prefer having a partner.

Re: Alone or with buddy?

I have always trained alone... I'd much prefer a partner but finding one that is reliable seems to be difficult...
