Well Chuffed

Yesterday I hit a personal goal I managed 5 x 5 squats 60k and also 5x5 60 k bench press ( I have managed to do only 2 to 3 sets of 5 and had to drop down prior ) then after my millitary press I manged to do 2 x 8 of clean and press 10k plates eacg side with perfect form ( going to up to 15 k next time and hope to keep good form ) .

Told a lad at work last night who lifts in a well known manchester gym ( we call him ramman from heman as he is all chest and no legs looks rather sad to be honest ) and he put me down saying for my size I should of been able to do that easy anyway and most peps hit a block on that weight and dont progress anymore .

It was a big mind barrier to beat and I have still not yet over come it as the plates I used was 2 10 k plates insted of the dreaded massive 20k plates .

ps I celebrated with a PO drink 2 scoops strawberry rec and 2 scoops of vanila pep it hit the spot like a pint of john smiths

Its all about aiming for something and achieving it, brilliant feeling beating a pb. But I'd watch out, if your Pb is 40k ( 10k each side plus im guessin a 20k bar) then sticking 5k each side is going to be tryig to beat your pb by 25% and with something like clean and press you dont want to be lifting too much. Maybe look into buyig some smaller plates and using them to slowly increase your weight each week.

Advice taken and noted irwit .

I was lifting low on the clean and press until I mastered the form and felt comfatable I think I have the stregnth and stamina to up it another 5k each side as that move is stamina busting as well as strength sapping .I know my boundrys and if I feel uncomfatable I will knock it back down after all why push for something to heavy lose form and risk a injury and a week or 2 off , so what if I lift less than the tee shirt bicep boys swinging there hips with poor form ...
