Re: Beginner to the stage in how long?

purely based on aesthetics?
Not realistically as the dieting would screw your athletics up.
There is no way a 'smaller guy' can get on stage unless uterly stripped, horribly ripped and sickly. That requires either crazy dieting and gear or crazy dieting and very long periods of time in a state where perfromance is hindered. None of those fit into being a athlete.

Bodybuilding is not a sport, its the extreme maniuplation of a body often in an unhealthy way which results in the creation of a body that look sporty...its not, by show time you are a wreck

Now, the mens health look will support the less ripped athlete but again good looks and good muscle mass are required and some form of diet manipulatioin will be applied. This again will 9 out of 10 times screw with athletic perfromance.

Very few can get away with both which leads me to suggest going for something that isnt based on aesthetics but sporting prowess where you can stay natural and compete in events of strength and endurance

2-3 years of good training and diet and you wouldn't make a fool of yourself. You would have to concentrate on the bodybuilding and pretty much forget the athletics though really..

Got to disagree. 2-3 years of good commitment, he won't be laughed at. Plus the natural feds...

Re: Beginner to the stage in how long?

How much muscle can you gain naturally on average:

1st year of training?
2nd year of training?
3rd year of training?

rough guesses are fine for the 'average, healthy male'

Re: Beginner to the stage in how long?

In my first year of training, I would say i've put on about 8-12 pounds of muscle naturally. Thats with my lifestyle which for 8ish months involved getting drunk two/three times a week and an OK diet. Based on that I would say a stone in your first year is possible if you have good commitment.

second and third year I can't comment as I've not done that yet

Feel free to post up on completion minus however many weeks you will need to diet down for to get stupidly ripped as a natural

Correct 'the stringy look' is an issue here

Some natties stay leaner off season, but I would say on average 20-24 weeks.

If you have been doing it for ages and stay lean, then probably 12-16 weeks.

I am in the first category, but hold off the stupid amounts of cardio till the last 10 weeks.
