| Newbie Trainer | Going to the Gym first thing....? Hi guys. Im new to this forum and i have to say that there is a lot of valuable information which i have absorbed thanks to so many of you! I am what is considered a hard gainer, and i have done so much research in terms of both dieting, supplements and exercise. Im looking to start at the gym very soon to start bulking up however i have one question:- What is the best time to train? I was hoping to train first thing in the morning (about 7-7:15am) due to my working hours? Are there any points which would advise against this? If training first thing, would it be advisable to eat first as the body would have been starved over night. Secondly im am aware that training this early would also require that right amount of sleep prior. Any help/advise you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks AP. |

Make sure you eat a breakfast with a decent amount of protein in with moderate carba and fats a decent amount of time b4 training so you dont get sick sleep however you can the night b4 but dont worry too much about duration you see, we need a good nights sleep bb'ing or not but as it takes 10yrs+ to build a physique that we are pleased with, its not like you will get 8hrs a night, evry night!! What I am trying to say is to do what you can in all areas of bb'ing, but fit it into your lifestyle, not the other way round!! If you take the info you read too literally you will have to live like a monk!! Get your priorities right bud ![]()

Might want to toss down some protein too after that workout in the morning.

| Still on the first step - its huge! | I do cardio in the morning and train at night. Works well for me. As said before though, its vital to pick a routine that fits into your lifestyle, otherwise its harder to stick to. You also need to balance your nutrition, you'll want a good pre and post workout meal. Before hand some Protien, carbs & fat and also afterwards inc maybe some simple carbs. My understanding, and correct me if I'm wrong here, is when you wake, your body is in a catabolic state (not growing). You need to boost your metabolism before you train. Do this with your pre-workout meal. I'm sure someone can explain this better than me! Good luck.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I train at 6.30 in the morning, to fit in with work/traffic etc, but it's great having an empty gym to train in! Personally I train about 40 minutes after waking, I have 20g of whey in skimmed milk on waking and that's it, I get a 40/60 Protein/carb shake PWO then breakfast about an hour later. Remember, fit in the training around your life, not viseversa or you won't enjoy/stick with it. Best of luck, keep us updated on your progress and good to have you here - welcome. |
