Weights Belt Use Advice Please

For dead lifts / SLDL's / squat is it advisable to use a belt to help protect against back injuries or does using one weaken the back muscles by supporting them when I should be putting them under stress?

Have had conflicting advice on this one so would be interested in what people think please.

Re: Weights Belt Use Advice Please

I use a powerlifting belt for most of my exersises. It gives good suport you have to push your back/gut out when useing one.

I generaly wear a tommy kono lumbar suport under the belt to give extra heat and suport. Its very confortable.

I dont like the weightlifting style belts - they dont give good suport.

Re: Weights Belt Use Advice Please

The only exercise I use my belt for is heavy overhead press with the barbell but tbh I think its better not to use one
