![]() ![]() | Re: Any advice please, need help. Hi mate, Well imo you have to pick a goal, fat loss or muscle gain. Im guessing you want to lose the fat. You really need to work out how many calories you are taking in each day. Be strict and honest and include everything ! One way is to lower your calories, this is a pretty regular diet. However it probably isnt the best for the bodybuilder because aswell as losing fat you also lose msucle. There are some brilliant write ups in the diet section of these forums on keto diets, timed carbs and carb cycling. If you have never herd of any of these dont worry and sont be put off. They are pretty simple once you give the posts a good read make a lot of sence. You will learn alot. Outside diet, uphill walking and cardio in teh mornings will help. Also just be as active as possible through the day , walk to the shops, always take the stairs, and of coursecut out all your **** food, drinks etc. Also personally Id say sits ups arent really going to help you lose fat, they wont hurt but you wont be spot reducing fat on your belly. Persoanlly Id say youd make it look worse as your abs are gonna swell up. SHort term that is. A set of squats are going to burn ALOT more calories, realse more GH which should both help burn off that fat ![]() Hope this helps! Last edited by irwit; 11-05-2008 at 10:29 PM. |

![]() | Re: Any advice please, need help. Hi, Yes big help, thanks for the advice. I have seen these diets on the forum but they did seem a little complicated. When starting out, like I am there is so much to concider all at once, diet, calories, protein, shakes etc plus a good training routine. I guess it just takes time. I'll read these write ups again. I think I was hoping for a quick fix as I was doing OK then quick as a flash I am right back where I started last year. I appreciate your time. Whats your opinion on the Holland & Barrett Soya protein as aposed to one of the other brands? It tastes ok but dont know if I could be using something better.. Lee. |

![]() ![]() | Re: Any advice please, need help. I know it sounds like alot to start with mate but once you get into it it really isnt too hard counting calories, protein, fats etc. Juts get used to reading the back of your labels before you eat. After a week or 2 of doing this youll have an idea on how many calories, protein etc a meal has without even looking. Your body is very complex but adding and losing fat is simple. If you eat more caloires than you need, your body will store the extra calories as fat. So you will get fat. If you eat the right ammount of calories your body needs you will stay the same. If you eat less calories than your body requires then your body will burn fat and protein ( your muscles ) to create the extra calories it needs. So working out how many calories you are puitting in your body is vital for fat loss really. No idea on the soya protein but imo just look at the ammount of calroies and protein in it and choose based on that . |

![]() | Re: Any advice please, need help. Thanks guys Theres a lot of talk on here about Cutting/Bulking Makes a lot more sense now. I am gonna monitor my calorie intake for a while (about 2300 for today) and then see if I need to cut it slightly whilst keepin up good protein and training. I have been watching the protein and Fat but not paying much attention to calories. See how I go. Thanks again. Lee |
