8,8,6,6

Was training tonight with a st helens Rugby League academy player and he did his rep range as 8,8,6,6

The reps with 8 was with the same weight. Then for the 2 sets with 6 reps in he increased the weight.

What does everybody think of this for size and strength ?

For example he did 30kg dumbells on incline bench for 2 sets then 32.5kg dumbbells for 2 sets of 6 reps.

Re: 8,8,6,6

Seems quite 'generic bodybuilding'.

Functionally, there are a million other exercise that would be more productive. But, professional clubs (more football than rugby) are notoriously bad for strength and conditioning training and are only really catching up now.

If he comes back next session and lifts 32.5kg for 2 sets and then 35kg for 2 sets of 6, you know it's worked. If he lifts the same again, it didn't work
