![]() | rest pause squats I train at home - no rack so I can only squat what I can lift over my head. :( I have tried various different set/rep patterns, just wondering about rest pause. I have tried doing the 20s rest pause before and I loved it (mainly because it made me collapse in a heap!) Possibly a stupid question but how many sets of these should you do?? |

That being said you may not be able to lift much weight overhead so perhaps you can do way more than 20 reps with that weight? LS gave you some good ideas there but if you can't afford a rack / train in parents house and they are not cool with it then... How about this... Set a timer on yer mobile phone for 5 minutes. Press the bar over and start squatting....full ROM, steady pace. When you have to stop, stop with the bar still on your back. Count number of reps in 5 minutes, then set a goal of beating that rep count next time. PS - Eat some food please. Right now. Don't wait. Go!

| I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin | Re: rest pause squats Sorry, it's me again. (Mr Gum is Loser's sockpuppet My 5rm (sort of) is 93kg. Lets say I did 5x5 (at the gym) and lifted 91,91,91,91,95. That makes 2285kg. When I do 20 reppers (at home) I do 2 sets at 61kg. That makes 2440kg. I am just looking for a bit of reassurance. These numbers suggest that this is productive. But I could possibly do another set (at least I could do some of one). I don't think I can do more than 20 reps - it gets really tough after about 17! I then have to sit down and rest for a minute or four! I haven't tried hack squats (sorry LS, they just look awkward and my grip ain't brilliant). Sorry to resurrect this, the reason is that I have changed my workout to a "madcow" approach. So I am having to swap this 2x20 thing for the proper 5x5 he suggests. Just want to check if you think they are sort of equivalent. mark
