Opinions please.
If you only have a couple hundred quid i'd forget it.
With that amount of cash a decent bench and some weights and bars would be a better option.

Re: Homegyms

I've got a home gym. I've only spent about £100 on a bench, bars, dumbbells and plates so it's not the best equipment, but its works.

I squat with dumbbells in each hand. Slightly different technique required to keep your back straight and focus on the legs, but it gives a good pump. Works the traps very nicely too!

Re: Homegyms

Sorry to bump this back up but I was just looking at the weights I got with the bench I mentioned a few posts back and it seems I only got 40kg. They are: 5kg x 4, 2.5kg x 6, 1.25kg x 4. Before I send an email to the place I got it from does the barbell count as a weight? 'Cos I'm sure it weighs similar to 2 5kg plates.

Re: Homegyms

I train at home using weights and a bench I bought from argos, bought a squat stand and mulit position bench off ebay
argos sell some extra weight plates 5 and 10 kg plates think its £20 for 20 kg,,ie 2 x 10kg or 4 x5 kg..
Cheapest place I found to buy aditinal weight plates was tescos, though i`m not sure if it`s just certain stores that sell them, they also sell the 5ft barbells and dumb bells..

There is one store on ebay where I bought a 6ft bar on 23 of may and still waiting for it to arrive after being promised 48hr delivery,,that company is a joke so if you use ebay be carefull

If it was billed as a 50Kg set that it'll either be 1x10Kg Barbell or more likely 1x6 Kg Barbell with 2x2Kg Dumbells which will make up the 50Kg.
