Ok first things first, leave more than an hour after your pasta and tuna before you workout. Id give it 2 hours. Pasta and tuna is a heavy meal mate, you want it to settle and start digesting before you train, otherwise all the blood will go to digesting the food whilst your telling it to go to muscles to give muscles a pump (from lifting) so the body doesnt really know what to do...this results in a longer absorption time and a sh*t pump aswell. Why dont you have your meal 2 hrs pre workout AND have some no explode pre workout (with 10-20g whey concentrate if you want a pre workout shake, not necessary though in my opinion). Drink WATER during the workout. Occasionally when bulking i'll drink coke but mainly water, basically water is best for your body and is the fluid most easily absorbed into the body...coke has sucrose/dextrose in it, they have to convert to glucose before they are effective anyway, so you can have the coke at start of workout i guess but water 'during it' id recommend. Remember though, its extra calories so if your looking to cut up, its a stupid idea. Secondly...add carbs to your protein shake after training to replenish your glucogen levels! Around 50g carbs is good, but it depends on many factors, your size, your goals ie cut or bulk, your lifestyle and your experience/current level of muscularity etc. Ussually for a guy, between 35-60g protein and 40-120g fast acting carbs post workout, again, depending on your goals. Ie when bulking i will have 60g protein and 120g carbs post workout (maltodextrin/dextrose combo)...when cutting i choose only 60g protein and 40g carbs. Its all relative to goals and size of individual mainly. Hope that helps ![]() | |

I read somewhere that during resistance workouts it's best to drink just water as the water potential is exactly that of the cells within the body. During cardio, I understand it is beneficial to consume isotonic or better still hypotonic drinks which are more easily absorbed into the blood. Hope this helped.. even a tiny bit!! |
