The suggestion of wrist weights, i thought it was a good idea, thats all.

I know it sounds really stupid but should i wear the wrist weights or hook them on the olyimpic bar ?

Stick em on the bar, you might want to get more than one set of 1kg ones so you can go up in 1kg increments

Yes thanks, well there is 1 and a 1/4 weights. Ill have to look if there is anymore as i have seen the coloured ones the women in keep fit use. Ill have to get some of them from their area.

if there are 1.25kg weights you can go up in 2.5kg increments then, you should be able to make steady progress with them, but it might be better if you go up 1kg at a time, it might seem slower, but you will make progress for longer where you might find you get stuck quickly with 2.5kg raises
