Bent Over Rows

Just finished my first new back and bis session which consists of :
- Deadlifts 5x5
- Bent Over Rows 5x5
- Chin Ups Palms facing.

After finishing my deadlifts my back was well and truly knackered (in a good way not injury related) and i was happy with my form.

I then went on to Bent over rows and really struggled with my form and hitting the back musles properly. Probably because i was so tired. Because of this i threw in some wide grip pull ups to finish off the upper back as i hadnt felt i had hit it sufficiently with bent over rows.

My question is should i do bent over rows before deadlifts next time or should i replace bent over rows with pull ups or some other exercise ?

Thanks
Lee

Re: Bent Over Rows

Do deadlifts first, you could always do dumbbell rows...

Re: Bent Over Rows

I could not do Deadlifts and Bent Over row in the same session and do both justice.

Re: Bent Over Rows

I do bent rows first then deadlift.
There is no WAY i could do it the other way round - deadlifting is just too intense.

Re: Bent Over Rows

How long are you resting for between each set? After each set of deadlifts, & barbell rows for that matter, IMO you need a good couple of mins - they just take too much out of you.

5x5 of deadlifts & 5x5 of barbell rows in one session is too much IMHO.

What would you suggest instead of barbell rows then cos i dont want to drop deadlifts from my routine - as above i do.
- Deadlifts
- Bent over rows
- chins palms facing

I agree, and if I had to choose one to do, instead of the other, it would be deads.

Re: Bent Over Rows

Im with jw also.

But your a begginer yeah ?? I reckon you would be ok to do both personally.

If your struggling with form there are other options.

DB rows
Cable rows
Chest supported row.
etc etc

Think i will try doing barbell rows first then deadlifts and see how i get on, cos if i drop one exercise that leaves me with just deadlifts and chins.

Yeah i am a beginner with compound movements ive been training for a long time on and off but only with isolation. I have only just seen the light of compund movements:lift:
