Old Newbie

Hi All,

My questions revolve around diet, supplements and libido.
Many years ago when I was a scrawny youngster just starting work, I joined a local gym and did free weights to improve my physique etc. During this time I was taking a post-training supplement to aide muscle recovery, which worked well. Having searched and read articles on this forum, it's quite confusing as to the sheer amount of supplemets available, and that doesn't include the ones I don't understand, lol! What I'd like are suggestions for a pre/post workout supplement to get me back into training, which would also give me the zest to train harder. I'm not looking to bulk out specifically, just lose some middle-age-spread, tone up, build muscle and generally feel better. It'd be useful if any supplement aided my missing libido (since last jan after putting on weight). No difference after a course of testosterone patches either! My diet has improved a lot over the last year, not just due to advice from doctor/nutritionist, but nowt like your regimes.
Any advice appreciated........ :ranger:

Re: Old Newbie

I dont really use a pre workout drink anymore, so some on here may be better to answer that question

I have used one that was quite simple, just some apple juice with some taurine/caffine mixed in, simple but seemed to do it for me.

Post I use 50g Dex & 50g whey from a bulk supplier (My Protein) works out very cheap.

If you do a price match for bulkpowders you can pick up 10KG Dex for £14.99!

Re: Old Newbie

Thanks Squill,

Shows how things have changed, I used to take dex prior to activivty when I used to play football. It helped enormously in prolonging my energy before flagging in the second half, lol !
Do you find the quality of the products varies between suppliers?
I also use a product called Vitalzyme which greatly reduces body/muscle fatigue during the day when active. It's been a godsend when skiing, greatly reducing muscle burn.
