How can you tell between lactic acid or DOMS?

Pretty much what the title says, how can you tell?

I've got a bit of soreness in my traps, hamstrings and gluteus at the minute, how would I know if its lactic acid or DOMS? Not particularly worried, I'm just curious

Lactic acid will be the pain you feel during exercise, DOMS is what you feel a few hours or a day after.

Ah right, I see, I don't think i've had pain during exercise, might of done if I sat down for about 5/10 minutes then get up feeling rather stiff, is that it?
What i'm feeling now, is DMOS right?

Cheers mate

Re: How can you tell between lactic acid or DOMS?

As the name signifies Delayed Onset of Muscle Soreness. It comes the day, or in my case, 2 days after it rears its ugly head. Lactic acid is, as I understand it, a build up in your muscles during exercise which makes it very difficult/impossible to carry on at the same intensity, or indeed any effort at all.

yup, DOMs usually starts the next day, if its not gonna be to bad.

If I get a very slight pain the next day I know it will be worse the day after...usually happens with legs...
