Training cycles???

I am confused about training cycles...

I've been training all out most of the time adding 5% increases to my exercises apart from back which progress is up and down for some reason.

I've learned that this is not the best way as the body cannot gain exponentially forever like that. Is it best to have some time where the weight is 10% less for a few weeks, then build back up to where you were in the coming weeks and then start adding weights that you have not lifted before? If so, what are the durations for these periods?

I have noticed if I go on holiday for a week or I drop the weights down for a time that my progress can regress back to months ago and find it hard to get where I was origninally..??!

Any info/comments on training cycles would be excellent and why my back progress is going nowhere would be much appreciated

Back:
Deadlifts 1x10,1x8,1x6 and 1x6
Chins 3 x (8-12)
Rows 3 x (8-12)
Behind back shrugs 3 x (8-12)
Rear delt laterals 3 x (8-12)
Dumbell curls 3 x (8-12)
Abs - lower leg raises 3 x (12-15)

Re: Training cycles???

Training cycles vary from person to person m8..If you are constantly gaining 5% in most sessions then why change it?I tend to make changes when I plateau as this gives you a reason cause your progression has somewhat stopped.Only then do I start making adjustments/changes to it.
You tend to go backwards when taking a week or more off the gym,due to you not keeping the training pattern going..It hass been suggested that taking 1 week every 5-6 months is a good thing but personally,I tend to end up losing too much in way of strength and p1sses me off...So try n do the odd session to keep me ticking over...
If you say your back aint progressing the same as the other body parts then you could possibly train it more by adding in an extra set etc etc BUT
then again it might just be that you are not going to see much gains for you back, unlike the other bodyparts if you get me...Some people have weak points and you get some lucky beggers that dont...You got to try n make the best of what you have m8....HTH
