Push, Pull, Legs

Taken into account what everybody has said and done some research and think a push, pull and legs routine would suit my needs best.
How does this look ?
Push:
Bench Press
Military press
Dips (leaning forward for chest)
Close grip bench press or tricep pushups.
Lat raise

Pull:
Deadlifts
Chin ups
Bent over rows
T-Bar rows
BB curls

Legs
Back Squats
Leg Press
Leg Ext
Good Mornings

Re: Push, Pull, Legs

You might want to start with a little less though, then start adding bits in.

Its what I did as it gets tough adding weight in all the time.

But as the tall funny man says, see how you get on, then re-evaluate and make changes to suit. What you are doing should evolve with you...

Re: Push, Pull, Legs

Too many exercises to be honest, I couldn't do that workout:

Try this instead:

Bench
Dips
Military

Deads
DB rows
Chins (pulldowns)

Squats
Straight leg deadlifts or GMs
Calf raise

Do heavy abs every workout at the end.

Less is more, trust me.

Im not having a go, but you dont seem to be listening lol.

Any reason for doing dips before military?

Also reasons for DB rows instead of Barbell?

You will shift more weight with Dips - so I'm guessing he's prioritising the bigger lifts.

BB Row form can be tough to get - normally easier for people to progress on DB Rows.

Although I would have had the chins higher up in the list.

All IMHO.

Re: Push, Pull, Legs

True, I tend to do my dips across benches so don't do as much weight as if I did them proper like. I struggle enough with military presses so need all the help I can get!

Might give DB rows a go as I'm never too sure about my form.

The last few sets of my 5x5 chin's is hard as well so maybe moving them up the order will help. I have always done chins at the end.

Re: Push, Pull, Legs

Chins as in the wide gripped ones for your lats ?
I probably cant do any of those.

Whats a good way to get good at them ?
I can do things like underhand pullups, pressups, body squats etc so im reasonably good with my bodyweight.

The thing is m8,dont be so negative on what you can/cannot do even without trying them..I used to be absolutely crap at wide pull-ups and without a word of a lie struggled to do 3-5 reps..It totally knackered me..
But perseverance is the key m8 and now can usually do roughly 12-15 and that by adding on a little bit weight..Keep at it as you will never get better at something if you dontHTH

Re: Push, Pull, Legs

There is a simple way of adding to the max number of pullup/chinups you can do

11111
21111
22111
22211
22221
22222
32222

etc etc, you could even weight them.

Treat it like any other lift Nathan, you wouldn't expect to deadlift 200kg straight away so start small and work up.

Re: Push, Pull, Legs

Thanks for this.
With the chinups in this push, pull, legs
are you talking about the wide grip, over hand pullups.
Do i not need to do some under hand or maybe one under and one over ? To do each LAT individually ?

I think you're thinking too much.

Just stick your hands under the bar and lift yourself up!

Re: Push, Pull, Legs

What i mean is there are
Underhand pullups - very easy for me can do 15 probably - just for biceps
Wide grip over hand - Very very hard maybe i cant do any
1 under hand, 1 over hand - The over hand side concentrates on one specific lat.

Should i practice wide grips on my pullup bar at home ? I can do about 4 full wide grips, but the wideness is only the width of my door.
