Nathanlowe, I can totally understand the temptation to bulk up when you see your mates doing it. But I would say that if you are serious about your rugby then it is worthwhile spending the time to get some good coaching for rugby strength as you will end up with a huge advantage over the guys who just went straight into the weight room and tried to turn themselves into Jonah Lomu. Weight training is just one method rugby players use to get strong. They use body weight exercises, plyometrics and core stability exercises to prepare themselves. As I said before they do use some powerlifting techniques but they don't train like powerlifters. |
