Newbie needing advice

Hi everyone, a newbie here needing some advice. I've been telling myself now for ages that l need to get some training done and so for the last few weeks l have been looking at this forum and it really does seem to give good advice to beginners like myself.
The advice l need is everything really for the beginner, what type of excercises should l be doing, how often, how many reps per set and should l have protein drinks after every work out.
Sorry if l seem really thick but just want to get eveything set out right in my head. I have had health problems in the past but now have hopefully gotton over them.
I am 5'8 and weigh 14 stone so a fair bit of flab, l would like slimmed down a little bit and get a bit more muscle.
My diet is-7.15. porridge or weetabix with milk
8.00. piece of fruit
9.30 2 ham or chicken sandwiches
12.15 roll with egg mayo and roll with chicken salad
16.30 baked potateo, salad and pork
20.30 bowl of cereal
I drink water throught the day and green tea.
Any advice on this would be most welcome and appreciated.

Why did you need your doctors agreement to train?

Splitting your training like this is ok,its how I started 8 years ago

To be honest though I wouldnt worry too much about training biceps and triceps yet,I'd stick to basic exercises - bench press, squat, deadlifts and maybe military presses.

I hammered my arms for the first year or so and never really saw an improvement. It wasnt until i cut right back on the number of exercises I did that they started to grow.

Re: Newbie needing advice

I had Endocarditis and Pneumonia a while back and just wanted to make sure it was alright to lift weights.

Would it be alright to do bench presses, squats, deadlifts and military presses and thats all three times a week on a on day off day routine or should l be doing anything else.

I was going to be getting whey protein but which one would be better the concentrate or the isolate.

   Thanks guys for the advice.

Re: Newbie needing advice

Spend the money of some salmon fillets, chicken breats, steaks, oats, eggs, milk, brown pasta not to mention plenty of fruit and vege etc.

Much better for you, much tastier and think of all the extras you get with real food that are great for your body, salmon with all the good fats, a whole range of different proteins in all the meats and eggs, complex carbs in the oats and brown pasta etc.

Re: Newbie needing advice

Was looking for a protein to help boost my protein levels just wasn't sure what one to get. Would l be better a whey protein from Adonis Nutrition or Myprotein or are they pretty much the same.

By the way my girlfriend got me a soya protein drink from Holland and Barratt called spirulina, is this any good.

Advice appreciated guys.
