No need to spend money on supplements apart from protein powder and then only as a supplement not a substitute for good food. Be patient - goal set - get a good trainer or coach to advise you - better still take up powerlifting - don't take steriods until you've got a mortgage - and always rinse your protein shaker out. | |

Monday - Squats / Bench / Standing overhead press (works legs, chests, triceps + other muscles) then i finish with a ab session on the mats. Wednesday - Deadlift / Bent over Rows / Pull downs (works legs, back, biceps + other muscles) again i finish with an ab workout Friday - same as monday. Second week i do deadlift routine on monday and friday and only doing squats once. I do all 5x5 exercises. I'm finding this is a great routine as it doesn't take much time in the gym and i reguarly make personal bests. Make sure u get at least 3 proper meals down you each day and try to snack on healthy bits. Stick to that and one day you might be as big as me ![]() |

![]() | Re: Advice for a newcomer yeah the 5x5 program is a good start. get your strength up and work on the mass in a few months. your better of doing reps of 8-10 with 20kg than 10kg. when it comes to nutrition just try to eat every 3 hours, even if it is just a shake. try to aim for 30g of protein per meal, or times your body weight in lb.s with 1.5 or 2 to get your daily protein needs and divide that over your six or so meals per day. |
