reps per set,how many sets?

as the title says what would be the average amount of of sets you would do on a 3 day split. for each exercise i try to do 4 with max of 12 reps

back ? 4 exercises
biceps ? 2 exercises
chest? 3exercises
shoulder? 4exercises
triceps? 3exercises
legs ? 3exercises
this takes me between 30min/40min to complete.

thanks budgie:lift::lift:

Re: reps per set,how many sets?

try doing lower sets and exercises like 5x5 on all compounds, you will be surprised at how less is more if you do it properly, just do exercises such as dead-lifts, bent-over row, squats, OHP and bench all in the 3 days and you will gain, as what you have got to remember is you dont grow in the gym you grow outside it and i would say as long as you train smart and hard you dont have to train for long! 45 mins is the maximum i train for in the gym and i am gaining a lot more than most guys at my gym!

Re: reps per set,how many sets?

Very individual depending on many factors 24 sets is too much unless your doing things such as having low rest times or some other technique as you wont be able to use max weights for all those sets.
