Newbie seeking Guidance.

Hi Folks,

Just signed up today.
Hope you dont mind me posting this without trawling through all the previous posts.

Bit about me, i'm 25 and around 20stone. i used to be a constant 18 or so stone.
Since i was 15 i have been involved in a heavy industry withing construction, Lifting weights between 25kg and 175kg repetative every day. i have always had good strength about me but never been to concerened about my health or my looks.
I joined a gym in 2003 as i wanted to have defenition within muscle.
Basically my gym advisor gave me a plan consisting of very little cardio and a busy schedule of weights which i stuck to for around 2years before i realised i wasnt doing myself any good. i gained just over 2 stone and still had a gut, although my arms shoulders and legs where pretty strong and coming along with defenition.

Cut a long story short i have not been trainning for 2 years, i now have a job which allows me to enter a programme that i can stick to.

Can anyone advise on what i should be looking at doing from now on in to get me back into trainning, my motivation is there but my lack of knowledge is next to nothing.
I am currently just over 20stone in weight and find running can be intensive and sore on my shins.

Should i be looking at some form of low impact cardio? bike? rowing?...

Also what should i be looking at eating, 3 meals a day? or intake of food every 3-4 hours? what should my intake consist off?

i am willing to listen to anyone as this time i want to be able to enjoy trainning knowing the the advice is coming the ppl in the know (you guys).

Hope i am coming over clear here, quite excited about the prospect of learning from you guys andmonitoring my progress!

I appreciate all who read this post and look forward to your comments.
