Blink is on a distinguished road
Could someone please advise me on what I should do?

First off, Hi!
To tell the truth I'm not sure if I'm allowed here (I'm 15), but there was no age restriction in the sign up form so I'll continue.

I've been trying to lose weight since last year. So far it's gone well, I lost my Man boob's (rofl) and have gained a bit of muscle on my arm's and leg's.
I want to gain more muscle now though. My first question is, if I start to do more muscle excerise's will my fat convert itself to muscle? or will I need to lose all my fat before I start to do more 'extreme' muscle excerise's?

Secondly I need help on my diet. What should I be eating? Here may be a usual day for me.
6:30- Organic Weetabix with Skimmed Milk (The mlik with no fat in it)
11:00- Piece of fruit in school. Apple or Orange normally.
16:00- Get home from school have a sandwhich that contains salad, one slice of weight watcher's ham, brown sauce/sugar free ketchup/relish. Maybe toast the sandwhich. With the sandwhich I would also either have sugar-free jelly, alpen leight bar or an apple.
19:00- Apple or Alpen leight bar.
21:00- Weight Wacthers potato wedge's with an alpen bar again.
Between all this I would proberbly drink water or sugar free cranberry juice.

As for excerise I try to walk for about 40 minute's everyday, I also play drum's for 30-40 minute's evveryday. Is this enough?

At night time just before going to bed I will do 40-50 press-up's and weight lifting about 2-3kg for 10 minutes. I don't think this is enough either, suggestion's please?

I saw some of your picture's and I must say I am impressed, I hope to look like you guy's some day. Also when recommeneding think's for me to do could you maybe say how you do it, and how long it took you guy's to get a muscly figure?

Thanks again!

Hi mate welcome to UK - M

For your diet, to gain muscle you need protein i cant see none in you diet.

Check these out:

http://www.uk-muscle.co.uk/general-a...t-growing.html

http://www.uk-muscle.co.uk/food-diet...-beginers.html

Long read but alot of good info and worth it

As for you exersize / weight lifting. I see your only 15 but can you not join a gym or buy some decent weights?

What are you using at the moment for you lifting and what are you doing with you equipment?

hi blink
Fat does not convert to muscle and visa versa, callisthenics are a good starting point,in any fitness, bodybuilding or weight lose program, but there has to be progression e.g
if you've been walking for 40mins a day for lets say 1mnth,and weight lose has stopped
you need to either walk for longer periods,jog/run for a portion of the 40 mins, any weight training programme that promotes muscle mass will aid in fat lose
good luck

Good on you for getting going on this

The links above will be a great read for you.

My first impression is that you are not eating enough. Yep, even for loosing weight.

At 6:30 you need to add some protein. Eggs maybe? or see if you can get hold of a protein supplement.

Eating the snack at 11 is good, but again some protein and good fats would help as well, like a handful of nuts.

Do you not have a lunch break? I dont see you eating here?

Watch out for the alpen bars, alot of sugar in them.

Id be tempted to make the 7pm the last meal of the day. You dont want them wedges that late. Think of carbs as fuel, why would you fuel yourself to to sleep? Swap your 9pm and 7pm around if you can. then get some protein in there!

When you walk, is this a constant walking period you choose to do? Or just your general day to day stuff, like walking to school? What you could do, is if its on the way home from school, walk for a min then run for a min then walk for a min and so on. Have a read up on interval training for cardio. Also, drums are good

Like I say though, make sure you read those links above. some excellent advice and info in there.

Good luck.

Re: Could someone please advise me on what I should do?

Thank's for the help guy's. This has really helped me out loads!

Final question is... Sugar's. Good or Bad for losing weight?
I noticed sweet's which are bad for you contain alot of sugar's but fruit which are good for you contain alot of sugar's. So are they good or bad?

P.S.- Sorry for bumping an old topic.

Hey Blink,

Stay away from sugars, they're a simple carbohydrate, you want to try and eat complex carbohydrates. The main difference as far as you are concerned is that when you eat simple carb's, your blood sugar level "spikes" (gets raised quickly), and that puts your body in a situation where it can actually be keen on storing fat, rather than burning it.

Eating complex carb's reduces blood sugar spikes and reduces the chances of your body wanting to store fat like that.

High protein diets with cardio are good for losing fat.

Good luck mate.

Not quite. Have a read up on the Glycemic Index. What you want it low GI foods, thee being foods that give you a slow release of energy and not the high spike instant hit that high GI foods give you.

GI Website

Take apples for example. I eat a braeburn apple on most days. these have a GI of 32 which is fairly low. Then you could look at a pineapple which is 66 and so somewhat high.

In other words, not all fruit is low and not all high. Some good some bad. But have a look on that site, you can search for various foods (carbs), and just aim for low GI stuff for the slow release.

Re: Could someone please advise me on what I should do?

As JawD says. At your age, you shouldn't worry too much about what fruit you're eating, just get some down your neck, it'll do you good

Don't over think too much, just exercise hard, eat decent food and make sure there's lots of protein in there.

You've got years of growing to do, have fun!
