| Who nicked my hair? | Re: am i to old? I'm starting from the opposite end... well a year ago I started... I'm a fat git getting lean, rather than a skinny who is trying to get big... the guys here are brilliant and as long as you do some of the work for yourself rather than just asking to be spoonfed then they will go out of the way to help you. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: am i to old? I'm 42 and have been training for around 3 months now. I do full body workouts of around 6 different compound exercises and high intensity interval training cardio work in between and have noticed significant gains. My average workout:- Military press Bench press Chins Seated Cable rows Upright cable rows Squats / Deads (on alternate days) Donkey raises Bicep curl (my only isolation exercise) I do this 3 times a week on week 1 with 2 cardio session, and then the week after I do it 2 times a week with 3 cardio sessions. I've been increasing my lifting weight week on week. |

![]() | Re: am i to old? Definitely not too old. I'm 50 and making good gains. I can do more chins now than I could in my 20's and strength in general is going up but I can't remember any poundages from years ago. I started training hard in January because I was over 15 stone and getting flabby. A skinfold measurement said I was 27% fat and now I am about 12 % fat at 14st 2lb. I reckon I have lost 32 lbs of fat and gained 24 lbs of muscle. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: am i to old? Course you aren't mate - I'm also 37 and I've got back into this wonderful life style after a 5yr lay off, a lay off that saw me loose nearly all i had gained and worked bloody hard to get over a 6 year training period. In the 5 years away from the gym I gain a lot off unwanted body fat but In 6 months I've shed 2 stone and my muscle/shape is coming back. This board and it's members have given me motivation and the drive to push myself hard in the gym to make up for lost time, have a good read through the board, look at the Shows, Pro's & Inspiration section, posts from Righty, Supercell, and Del to name a just a few.For pure determination read Slamdogs thread, massive achievement, take some of this away with you and you can't fail mate. Also for a good laugh just have a read of any posts by Daps ;) It's a shame you can't get to a gym but you can make good progress in a home gym just eat correct, train correct but most importantly give yourself time and set realistic targets. As recommended by Slamdog, Brawn is a great read. All the info you need can be found in this forum also , if not just ask and someone will always be willing to advise you. Good luck and enjoy. |

![]() | Re: am i to old? Hi guys, I`m 52 and a bit and still going strong. I look at it this way, if you can still pick up a weight then keep going as long as you can. A bit of cardio helps as well. Don`t get me wrong here, I`ve had my share of health probs and I supose the training has helped with regaining fitness. Keep on going OLD Boys, jonno. |
