![]() | Well this is annoying/embarassing! heya. Been doing the following schedule (just started this week) Monday: 5 x 5 : Squats Benching Rows Wednesday: 5 x 5 : Squats - Military - Deadlifts chins Friday: 5 x 5 (increasing) : Squats Benching Rows have a problem with the squats. I can feel i can do soo much more! And don't feel it's pressing me at all, however, i can't seem to lift more than 50kg up over my head and rest the barbell on my shoulders, so the max i can squat is currently dead at an embarassing 50kg! I don't know why! I can bench more than this, and so on, but for some reason, i can't lift a barbell over 50kg over my head and rest between my shoulder to do squats! I also can only do around 40KG on military lifts/presses (not too sure what theyre called) and i'm guessing you use the same muscles for these exercises (e.g. lifting the barbell behind your head would be the same as getting the barbell behind your head for military presses/lifts - not too sure which one it is!) Could someone give me some advice on this. What muscles are used for doing that kind of thing, and how can i work on them (as i seriously need to!!) For the mean time, is there any other way to load the barbell onto my shoulders as opposed to lifting it from the rack and then hoisting it over my head? Or is there any other kind of squat that doesn't involve having the barbell on your back? Sorry about this! But i'm stumped! Maybe this is punishment for being keen on fitness, but also a keen video gamer, a lethal mix.

| ;-) | Re: Well this is annoying/embarassing! Hmm whats the video games got to do with any thing? Any ways join a better gym once you want to get serious or you can play around with exercises like deadlifts where you grip the bar from behind so your in front of the bar or sumo deadlifts. Or even better squat that 50kg 100 times ATG and once thats mastered go for 100 reps of front squats lol. |

Havent read the whole post but from the replies looks like you dont have no squat rack... At the gym that i work at (not train at) i try not to train there for 3 reasons, 1) im unsociable when i train and hate being grabbed during a workout to show new exercises or give someone info....2) after a 8 or 12hr shift i dont wanna be in the building any longer...lastly the one that applies here... No benches with hooks or squat rack or even a smith machine!!!! Its fkin disgusting, p1sses me off big time - though the simple way around it (shouldnt bloody have to though) is get 3 guys t lift the weight for me into position then wait and take it off Its hassle but gets the job done..... Sorry for going off on a tangent but i had to get that off my chest ![]() |

If you squating 100kg's or more who knows how the rest of your body will develop getting that bar onto your shoulders!! Squat rack, smith machine maybe otherwise play it safe on leg press although not as good and I shouldnt preach as I'm lazy and do more leg press than squats!!
